
Minister Han Changfu and Dr.Sándor Fazekas, Minister of Rural Development of Hungary co-chaired the Sixth Meeting of China-Hungary Agricultural Cooperation Working Group (CHACWG)in Budapest on June 4, 2014.
The two sides briefed each other on the latest developments of agriculture in both countries, underlined the significance of cooperation that brings along mutual benefits, and spoke highly of the fruitful results achieved since the last Working Group Meeting. The two sides discussed and defined priorities for future cooperation, including agricultural S&T, trade, investment, and so on. Both agreed to build a closer partnership by taking the following measures:
First, to boost agricultural trade through various forms. For example, Hungarian enterprises would be invited to participate in the China Agricultural Trade Fair and other business-promoting events;
Second, to give full play to the China-Hungary Center on Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation, and fully implement the 2014-2015 Action Plan of the Center signed at this Meeting, in order to advance agricultural S&T collaboration and innovation in both countries; and
Third, to enhance bilateral exchange and cooperation in food safety, animal and plant disease control & prevention, and other relevant sectors. Besides, the two sides agreed to hold the Seventh CHACWG Meeting in Beijing in 2015.
During his visit to Hungary, Minister Han also paid field visits to Szent István University and the saline-alkali soil treatment bases, where China and Hungary have carried out joint agricultural S&T programs.
